Cordless Edge Trimmer - With Blade

I bought a lineup of 20 volt Dewalt tools - blower, shop-vac, impact drill, drill, table saw, reciprocating saw plus more. Extra batteries. One of the heavy batteries quit a couple months on the job. The weed eater lasted 3 runs, and yesterday my impact drill stopped after one year. Customer follow up was no where. These tools do not stand this elderly diy. I can't imagine they will hold up for the pro. I definitely do not recommend.

The edger worked well but the plastic safety shield/ guard broke where it connects to the tool so I can no longer use it. I have been trying to get a replacement part and have not been able to find and order it. The tool is under two years old. Warranty would be nice but I need the part and DEWALT has not made it easy to locate and order.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought a 20v edger DCED400 like 2 months got around everything, went to edged today got half way done changed batteries...... boom nothing. Even let it cool down thinking maybe by chance it was just hot and still nothing.... very disappointing.

We bought this product 3 days ago. I assembled, did a test edge and thought this will work great. Next day, I edge my sidewalks. For the most part it works well. It was not on the deep setting and the unit struggled to get through the soil to the point where I had to slowly lower the blade into the soil numerous times. The batteries used are new (12 months), fully charged and large capacity. The lawn has not been edged in years, so I may be expecting too much. I am sure subsequent edging will go much easier. Now comes the real problem. It’s dead. The batteries were low and I wasn’t done yet. I charged both high capacity batteries and now the unit won’t turn on, sometimes the blade twitches, but other than that it’s dead. I verified batteries are fully charged by using them on the leaf blower and worked full power. I was going to return for a new one, but after seeing so many other people with the same issue, I may just return for a refund. Quite disappointed as I’ve been expanding my dewalt line of tools and lost a bit of confidence.

Great balance! Easy to set cut / trenching depth and it works with all of my 20V batteries. I was very excited to get this tool and it works better than I hoped!

Purchased last year - I used this edger twice last year and went to use it for the first time this year and it will not function.
