Great saw, but mounting it is a rig job

Other reviews capture why this is a great general purpose saw, so I'll just move on to my one issue... mounting it. The saw doesn't come with mounting bolts, and the bolts that came with the 7440RS stand are too large, and I can't find any official info on it. Some people mention 8mm, but that they don't fit perfectly. Others mount using the diagonal cut holes with lock washers, but this seems like a rig job for a brand new saw and stand made by the same company. I'd rather mount flush using the supplied feet, which also give an extra 1/2" of height. Any help from DeWalt here? What size and length bolt is ideal for using the built-in mounting threads?

Nearly very good

So this is in general a well built and high quality product. But there are a few snags which need to be addressed The instructions are the pits. Badly written and confusing. OK in the end you sort it out, but why are the diagrams and part identifications on a different page requiring much page turning back to understand? The miter gauge is rubbish. Way too much slop on the fit, making repeatability an issue when used for making good quality items. Probably OK for a job site if you don't mind your house not to be upright! Shame because this could be a good saw for accurate carpentry. Well built in general, sturdy and durable.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Awesome little saw

You can't use a dado set, but for everything else this saw is a gem! I particularly love the rack & pinion fence system, and the way it adjusts out wide for panel cuts. The table footprint is small, so for large panels you'll need infeed- and outfeed-support, but you should have those anyway. I love this little guy. The one design flaw I see is that the lever which controls tilt tends to vibrate loose, causing the blade to drop slightly out of square. Solved that problem by jamming a couple of rubber erasers into the groove behind it. (But it's a good idea to check for square before using it, in any case.)

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Saw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got mine delivered a couple days ago. Bought the saw because I had to rip 12’ pieces of shiplap. Saw did awesome on these long cuts. Blade did nice clean cuts. The legs being outward and flat on top made it easy to clamp down (not sure it really needed to because it felt pretty sure footed already). Like that all the accessories have locations on the saw to be stored. like also that saw base and guard both have vacuum connections. Push stick was included. Other reviews of the previous model said the miter jig was loose and plastic. But this one is all aluminum/steel and had no slop-fit well. Only wish it could use a dado. Really think a great saw for the money.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought used this year for kitchen panel cuts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this used in the beginning of 2024 (like new condition tho) to cut panels for my new ikea kitchen and loved it. Great adjustability and nice and portable for what it can do. As far as those who are mad about this saw not accepting dado blades - get a bench mount router that can give you exact cuts according to the bit you use. The Dewalt DW7485 is made for conventional cuts (rips, 45's, miters, etc) and designing it for one purpose makes it more precise and durable. Moving on, the fence is easy to use and stays put very well. The fence also stores underneath in addition to the miter for easy storage.

hate to say this but

I recently got the 7485. first time buying a table saw. some aspects are great but it has huge limitations that I wish I had known before buying it - or I would not have purchased. The lack of dado but also how difficult (impossible) it is to get a blade that can make fine cuts and still work with the riving knife. it seems like a 40 tooth blade might be the limit. It looks like this was designed just to chop lumber on a job site but for a DIY person, it does not really work. just getting information about what blades can work on this has been way too hard - and already resulted in buying one blade that was not compatible. so Dewalt seems to make great stuff but this one can't do what i need. i wish they had been much clearer about those limits up front.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bevel problem since new

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw about 2.5 years ago. I've been doing trim carpentry since 16 years old, and have a lot of experience with table saws. I really like the compact size and portability of this saw. The fence is great. The price is great. The power is great. The bevel feature is a problem. It misaligns the blade, and doesn't straighten when you bring it back to zero, unless you take it back and forth between 0 and 10 degrees a few times. I'm talking like almost -hitting -the-throat plate insert kind of misaligned. It has done this since I bought it new, and I can't seem to find any way to fix it. Maybe it's a design issue, or maybe mine is a lemon. Either way, if you buy it and it doesn't work right, don't wait to return it, thinking you can fix it, like I did.

Excellent Little Compact Fireball!

I have use it for a couple of days for a total of about 10 hours and I'm very impressed. I've moved from a Bosch 4100, which was giving me alignment issues which was causing major frustration. The wife on my back, so I decided to try a Dewalt. Couldn't find the 745 and decided on the DWE7485. Glad I did. I'm use to using a 10" blade but wasn't opposed to to a smaller. If your in the trade of construction and carpentry, I can understand it. I'm just into woodworking. I have a one car garage shop, so it fits very well. If your in the market you can't go wrong. There will always be haters and naysayers who just love to be negative. If it's not for you find another brand. This is my first Dewalt purchase though I have been using the product for over 15 years for work.

Yes, I recommend this product.
