This thing is a BEAST but seriously read on
4 years ago
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this saw to do my shed project as I didnt want to drag out 250ft of cord. I read some reviews before purchasing and most people complain about the battery life, which wasnt an issue for me as I have several flexvolt batteries. I have many dewalt products and dewalt tools are always my go to brand. After purchasing this saw I was very surprised at how light and nibble it was. It cuts with superior accuracy. The electric brake adds a nice benefit for safe use. I was able to complete an entire 10ftx12ft shed on one flexvolt battery. I would recommend if purchasing this saw to also purchase a flexvolt battery.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Why such a crappy safety!!
Overall the saw has good power and battery life. It has cut everything I have asked if it was a professional carpenter, but What I don't understand is why they chose to put a safety switch on it that forces you to move you entire grip to activate the saw. The safety they put on the 6 1/2 inch saw is easy to quickly access and start cutting. I HATE THE SAFETY ON THIS ONE! I love most of the DeWalt tools I use, I have 30 of them keeping the same battery for a cordless saw was a priority, but if I was just starting my set of cordless tools, based on this one. I would have gone Milwaukee for the safety switch they went with!

Fantastic saw
Finally made the jump to a cordless 7-¼” circular saw. We use this daily and I have no complaints! Plenty of torque and cuts like a breeze. We use 4 and 5Ah batteries and easily cut for a full day or 2 cutting 2x6, 2x4 and long osb cuts on roofs. Comfortable and super stable. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. My only thought would be for the depth adjustment bolt to have a pivoting handle so that you can swing out of the way of the body. I find that these bolts stretch over time and eventually either don’t tighten or loosen as well. Perhaps it will never be an issue anyway! Great tool, and couldn’t be happier.

Very powerful cordless saw perfect for every job
5 years ago
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded to this saw from the smaller "brushed" 20v saw earlier this year, and it's so much stronger than other cordless saws. I originally started to look into this upgrade when I decided to build a set of steps for my father in law's place on the New River. I knew I would need to able to make allot of cuts, but I didn't have access to a generator. This saw performed so much better than I could have anticipated. I was able to finish the whole project on just a few batteries, batteries that also had to run a drill and impact. The addition of the utility light was great once the sun started to fall behind the mountains, and the stud mount is the best thing ever added to a circular saw.

Dead after 20 cuts
I had high expectations. The saw was light and the adjustments were an improvement over my older DeWALT corded model. It is a bit of a power hog but that was to be expected. I was cutting 1x12 siding and it died after 20 cuts. The 5amp battery was fully charged but it will not start. When I manually turn the blade, it has a gravely sound as if a bearing is bad. It is worthless as all the service centers are over an hour from me and inconvenient. It would cost me a third of the product price for the trip. I have been very pleased with my 6 other DeWALT products, but this is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

Great saw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw several months ago as a bare tool and built an entire shed with it and a DeWalt impact driver. Only downfalls of this saw are expensive batteries and I really think a rip fence should come standard along with a case or at least a bag. This saw lasts a long time with a 4ah battery and has plenty of power until the end. The rafter hanger is a plus for hanging the saw out of the way instead of risking it falling of the ladder. Even with the bigger batteries it's not too heavy to handle all day. Blade changes and cutting heights are easily done as well as blade angle. The LED light is a great feature for low light situations. Hands down the best circular saw I have ever owned.

Plenty of power, easy to control
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned this saw for a year now and have used it on many projects around the house and remolding jobs.
The saw has plenty of power when paired with a larger ah battery. The saw is very capable of cutting sheet material and 2x boards without feeling uncontrollable. The front handle position feels very comfortable and easy to hold.
The weight of the saw is very manageable. Adjustments are easy to do and the shoe seems very sturdy and durable. The attached rafter hook is a nice added feature as well as the electric brake.
Overall this is a very capable and highly recommended saw.

Excellent value and quality
I always try to buy dewalt power tools for their quality and reputation as long as the price is right. I started buying dewalt about 20 years ago and never looked back! I’ve only had 1 problem with a 18 volt battery, frying my 5-1/2” saw, started smoking and thought it was going to catch on fire so I took the battery out and threw it out in the yard and waited for the worst but it stopped smoking. Yes it’s off topic but the saw was almost 20 years old and that was the only problem I’ve ever had with a dewalt product. Would recommend to everyone. Thanks dewalt!
