The issue that you describe (afterflow) can result from a number of conditions (individually or in combination), including attempting to apply the product through a very narrow tip opening, application out of temperature range, gunning the product too rapidly, the use of a non-drip free caulking gun, or a small amount of air trapped under the plunger in the end of the cartridge/within the filled product. While this issue has no adverse impact on the applied products performance, it can be frustrating and messy. DAP ALEX FAST DRY is a water based (acrylic latex) formula, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions or by thick (deep) applications of the product.
