Not much value without a subscription
We "upgraded" our basic garage keypad with this smart/video enables one. It was great for a while, although I find it limiting that it can only interact with one door (even our old/basic keypad could be programmed to control both of our doors). I didn't realize that without a video/storage subscription, its basically an expensive keypad. I'll admit that's at least partially on me for not doing more thorough research, but I'm tempted to just reinstall my old "dumb" keypad

Battery life
Camera does what it should, but the battery life is really disappointing. Two weeks and it needs to be taken out of the device and charged for 10 hours. If it came with a second battery that could be swapped out, that might work. As it is I am thinking about taking it down and going back to the old keypad. Maybe there will be a fix in the future. Right now it is not worth the hassle. I installed it before Christmas and it needs to be changed for the second time.already.

Hi Terry, thank you for your review and feedback on the myQ Video Keypad. I am sorry to hear of your experience. I will be sure to share your feedback with our product team for future enhancements. Please feel free to reach out with any further suggestions or assistance with troubleshooting.
To maximize the battery life of your myQ Video Keypad, we recommend setting your Motion Sensitivity Meter to either the low, or lowest setting. This will ensure your keypad is only capturing events immediate to your garage door proximity.
Wi-Fi signal strength also plays a significant factor in the battery life performance of your device. You can view your Wi-Fi network strength in the myQ app under the Video Keypad Device Management Settings section.
There are several ways to improve your Wi-Fi connection for your device, including moving your router closer to your device or purchasing a Wi-Fi extender. The myQ Video Keypad must be within 50 feet of your Wi-Fi router if it is broadcasting a 5GHz signal. If you connect to a 2.4GHz signal, your router can be up to 150ft in distance. To ensure best performance, it is recommended to have your myQ Video Keypad connected to a 2.4GHz network. If you're still having issues, please get in touch with us at support.chamberlaingroup.com
Should these settings already be in effect, you need further help, have any comments, or concerns, please email us at social@chamberlain.com and include this review, so we can get in contact with you to resolve the issue. Thank you!

Buyer beware
In my opinion, it's not worth the money. It appears as though the only way you'll get video notifications is if you subscribe to their service. My unit came with an angled mounting bracket. When I contacted them about a flat mountain bracket stowed up the camera would look straight down the driveway. They advise me that I would have to purchase the other bracket from a liftmaster dealer in my area. To say the least I am just satisfied with the product and the service.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great idea… poor execution.
Bought the video keypad for several reasons:
1- Works with my MyQ opener*
2- Video recording
Main problem is the poor battery life and frequent need to unmount and recharge the battery. This unit uses so much power that it really should have been configured with a hardwire power source and have a battery as a back up option.
Now the most disturbing issue is the inability to address more than one garage door opener. Really!? Only one? Most modern garage door keypads, including the ones supplied with my MyQ equipped openers can be programmed to be used with multiple door openers.
I can only hope MyQ adds a hardwire solution for this keypad, configure a battery pack to be wired to a wall wart maybe?
Additionally, please provide a software, or firmware, update to allow multiple doors to be controlled by one opener.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Love it except charging Battery
I love the MyQ keypad with one small exception. The battery requires recharging every few months and there is a very small screw in the edge underneath the keys that needs to be removed. I am always afraid I will drop this screw and lose it. It would have totally changed my opinion if only that screw was placed with an edge that would keep if from being totally removed (and perhaps dropped) or if it were bigger so less likely to slip through these old fingers.

Problems
I had a challenge getting through the setup steps. I thought I walked through the steps to a T, but had several issues with getting the software to process through the steps. I did finally get it all set up and working after a couple hours. The video was very choppy when I tried to review it, which was only a couple times. Two weeks after normal use, the battery was dead, even though I fully charged the battery pack before installing the keypad. This was the deal breaker. I returned the item today. One final comment, the screw holes for the this chamberlin keypad are not the same spacing as the screw holes of the basic Chamberlin screw holes, so if you are upgrading and have aluminum wrapped garage door trim, you will have to make at least another new permanent hole. I feel this could have been avoided Chamberlin.

I bought this item but upon further relfection realized that I need to buy another battery in order to have continuous use out of it. Cost of the battery was about 50% of the cost of the unit itself. I tried to imagine myself having to change the batteries all the time and decided that this was too much of a hassle for the price so back it goes! Probably should have read the reviews as the battery situation reallly detracts form the value this product could give,

I really like the security of being able to see not just my driveway, but part of the sides of my home. Since purchasing this video camera, I feel a lot more secure, even though I live in a very quiet suburban neighborhood. I love the audio and speaker availability, I really like how clear the microphone is, and I really like assigning passcodes to individuals. My only gripe is when it’s raining, even though there’s an eave overhead, The camera shows nothing.

Camera works great, wish the field of view was a little wider. Speaker has a clear and crisp sound. Installation and setup was a breeze, with good connectivity to both of the android phones. Video playback is a little slow in loading and has to be prompted sometimes. Battery life is ok, but I purchased a second battery for a backup. Overall a great addition to our outside security, I plan on purchasing a second one for the other side of our two-door garage.

Needs Improvement
Battery life is very poor and I feel the swivel mount should have been included with the camera, I think the video quality is not great considering there are cheaper cameras on the market yet have much better video quality (2k) and still have all the features as the myQ keypad camera. I like having the keypad / camera as a combined unit but think there are many improvements that could be made the biggest one would be an option for external power adapter

Great features, but…terrible battery life
a year ago
This would be a fantastic product if the battery would not have to be replaced every 2-3 weeks….we have purchased an additional batter but that should not be the answer. While we were away for 10 days we received notification that our keypad was offline due to the battery. We would have loved to see what was going on at our home while away, but that was not the case. Vey disappointed ….if you like to babysit your battery, then this product is for you.

Great Product

I just installed the Video Keypad yesterday. The device is well made and the installation and setup were very simple. You just install the app and follow the instructions. The video quality is excellent and the alerts from the app are nice. My only issue is that in the app under Device Management, my Apple HomeKit Home shows up, but I don't see the Smart Garage Video Keypad. I would like to connect it, especially if the app recognizes my HomeKit Home.

Works very well, but its power source needs work
a year ago
I have two of these units and really like them. The unit works very well and the price is affordable. However, the design of its power management is not the best. There needs to be a way to power the unit continuously and you should be able to charge the battery without having to dismount the unit and then remove it. Plus, you have to charge the battery outside the unit so unless you buy a spare battery your keypad is down for several hours.

Needs To Be Hardwired for Power.
This keypad/camera has potential to be a good product, but has a major flaw, the battery.
The battery doesn’t last long. There’s no way to hard wire it for power or use a solar charger, so I’m stuck with it running down all the time.
That brings me to charging it. Today the battery was at 30 percent. It took over 6 hours to charge it.
Until they make this abled to be powered from another source, I would not recommend purchasing this device.

Ok...could be better
I'd give it 2.5 if I could. Overall it's a good unit. The downside is that the battery has to be removed for every charge. Wish there was a way to hardwire it or have the charging port on the outer portion of the unit instead of the battery. Also, the low temp rating could be better for those of us that live in the Midwest -4F is not the best rating when it can get -20F with windchill.
I also wish this came with the 0deg mounting bracket.

Hello Rybe, thank you for your inquiry and for sharing your preference of a hardwired version. While we currently do not offer a wired myQ Video Keypad, we will be sure to share your feedback with our product team. Of note, expected battery life depends on several factors including household activity, Wi-Fi signal strength, ambient temperature, and selected motion sensitivity settings. An example based on activity can be found below:
Quiet Household (fewer than 10 events per day): 3 months of battery life
Typical Household (10-30 events per day): 2 months of battery life
Busy Household (over 30 events per day): 1 month of battery life
The myQ Video Keypad is tested to operate from -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C). Extremely cold weather can unfortunately impact the lithium-ion batteries used in many smart home devices, and as the temperature drops the battery will begin to have trouble holding a charge. At freezing temperatures the battery may run out of power more quickly and require more frequent charges. As the temperature goes up your keypad will return to normal operation.
Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience, but we really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. We’ll strive to do better.

Fails when temp drops below -20
When it works it works ok. However, if the tempurature drops below -20C for more than a day the unit freezes and goes offlinie. I have to go out, unmount it, then bring it into the house and thaw it out and remount it only to fail again. Does not matter what charge level the batteries are at. If you are in Canada, don't waste your time and money. And Surprise! You need to buy a cloud storage supscription for this thing to be of any use.

Dont know why others need battery charging so often, mine last almost 2 months if not more...its on low settings (not the lowest though) which is all you need to capture everything....its used 2-3x a day on average. Also, mine is in 110 deg heat, some direct sun in morning, but shaded most of the day. Regardless, I bought an extra battery for swapping easily instead of waiting for a charge. its so good I bought one for my Daughter and family.

Outstanding Addition to Our Garage

The camera keypad is an awesome addition to my garage door opener unit. It was east to set up and install. I love the wedge housing that is included. My wife and I have a condo at the beach and this is for our home. I bought this on sale, but I’m kinda mad at myself for not having installed it earlier!

Beautiful device, terrible user features
Looks great, but your software product team botched the user features. Did they talk to any real families? In order to create PINs for your kids or a housekeeper, you’d have to have separate email addresses for each PIN, create accounts with passwords, and somehow install and sign into the app with those accounts to accept an invitation. Then, from the owner account, you can set up the PINs. Please talk to customers and fix the software.

Bought this a week ago. I have a wifi extender 20 feet away from it in my garage but it can't find the signal. Tried bringing it in right next to the extender, it still won't connect. Something as simple as how to factory reset this device I still haven't been able to find on the website.

I bought this item last October, I was pleased with the video quality and the easy setup configuration.
The battery life is very poor and purchasing an additional battery is out of the question.

My return window expired otherwise I would have return it.

myQ Garage Video Keypad

I've noticed that the myQ Garage Video Keypad battery depletes faster than I expected even the motion detection is set at low. The wifi signal is not also strong (2 bars) even it's about 2 meters away from my Xfinity pod in the garage. The keypad 'home' button sometimes does not respond in opening the garage door after I key in my four digit access code. I have to press the 'home' button 3 to four times to open the garage door.

Easy to Install and Setup
This is a super nice, great looking, easy to install device. I say device because it a self-contained, WiFi enabled, remote camera with a keypad. This is a rechargeable device that will need to be removed and charged periodically.
The instructions are straightforward and like so many smart devices today uses a code to scan to take you to the documentation. My setup took about 20 minutes and I did it all through the myQ app. With users being able to have their own codes it makes it very easy to know who is using the keypad. My wife and I, and our daughter each have a distinct code.
The view is great with a detection area that can be user adjusted, and the picture is very clear both day and night. Have had it in place for about a week and even with traffic and people walking the battery is still at 90%. Both my wife and I are quite happy with this unit.

Battery life is terrible and all they respond with is the anticipated specs when the battery was designed. Camera latency is bad, and voice is bad. If you do not have an extender you will need to have the device very close to your router. Also there is no remote function to open the garage door. They require you to own another one of their products to gain that feature. Seriously…. It’s not hard to have that feature….

I bought this Video keypad to open and close my garage door, and it works wonderful for this purpose. The camera and video was an option that I did not need since I have a ring doorbell camera in the same proximity. Batteries die way too fast. I've had 2 of these, 1 for each of our garage doors, for about 6 months now. No idea when they disconnect, but about 1/2 the time they seem unavailable, very poor alerting that they're disconnected, or discharge, so someone could walk up to them and the keypad will just be dead. Batteries take forever to recharge. I came here hoping they would have had an AC adapter by now, but no such luck.

Hi Brian, thank you for your review and feedback on the myQ Video Keypad. I am sorry to hear of your experience and to see that this product did not meet your expectations.
Should these settings already be in place, or you need further help, have any comments, concerns or questions, please email us at social@chamberlain.com and include this review, so we can get in contact with you to resolve the issue. Thank you!

I wish I had bought it sooner. We purchased this as a replacement for our garage door opener which had broken. I love being able to open the app and make sure I didn't forget to close the door and SEE it for myself. It's so nice to be able to set up specific codes for different users as well, it adds a layer of protection. It's a great addition to any home security system and it's super easy to install. Highly recommended!
