I purchased three of them.

When it comes to quality, this is a pretty amazing product. My only suggestion is to work on a better battery that could eventually replace the original one. These batteries, quite frankly, are trash as they don’t last long enough regardless on how low motion settings are configured. Another suggestion is for this product to have a little bit more functionality, such as facial or LPR recognition. This way, it could automatically open when certain people approach it or when a car with a verified license plate approaches. Just my humble opinion. One more suggestion is to add HTTPS command capabilities for smart home integration. Basically, regardless of the app or not the function option to trigger the units to open and close from different devices.

Yes, I recommend this product.

No need for video on this keyboard

I bought this because I needed a keypad for the garage. The video function is useless and never really worked. It had constant problems connecting/disconnecting from the WiFi, which had a mesh network access point just 10 feet away. (I added separate wifi security cameras in the same location from another brand that never have trouble with the wifi connection.) The video has no local storage and the cloud storage requires an expensive monthly subscription. Without the subscription the only thing you have is "live-view", but only on rare occasions when it actually connects to the wifi. As for the keypad, well, because the camera and wifi are apparently consuming so much battery, the battery doesn't last so long. I get at most one month on a charge.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello Mr. Broberg, thank you for your review and feedback on the myQ Smart Garage Video Keypad. I am sorry to hear of your experience with the battery life and connection with your video keypad. To maximize the battery life of your myQ Video Keypad and decrease charging time, we recommend setting your Motion Sensitivity Meter to either the low, or lowest setting. This will ensure your keypad is only capturing events immediate to your garage door proximity. Wi-Fi signal strength also plays a significant factor in the battery life performance of your device. You can view your Wi-Fi network strength in the myQ app under the Video Keypad Device Management Settings section. Mesh routers are not recommended as they will provide a stronger connection to other devices in your home and drop connection from other devices to do so. There are several ways to improve your Wi-Fi connection for your device as well, including moving your router closer to your device or purchasing a Wi-Fi extender. The myQ Video Keypad must be within 50 feet of your Wi-Fi router if it is broadcasting a 5GHz signal. If you connect to a 2.4GHz signal, your router can be up to 150ft in distance. To ensure best performance, it is recommended to have your myQ Video Keypad connected to a 2.4GHz network. Regarding subscriptions, Premium subscriptions for select partners allow us to drive innovation and enable further partner integrations. Our standard myQ features continue to be free. The myQ Video keypad works independently of a subscription. Once you install your video keypad you will be able to operate your pre-programed garage door and view real time live video motion events. The myQ Video storage plans allow you to personalize alerts, record and view motion events and access them at your convenience through the myQ application. We offer a variety of plans that allow you to store video events for 7 days or 30 days to view and download and share if needed. Please visit our website: https://www.myq.com/solutions/video-storage-subscription Should you these settings already be in place, or you need further help with motion events and notifications, have any comments, concerns or questions, please email us at social@chamberlain.com and mention this review, so we can get in contact with you to the resolve the issue. Thank you!

Does not work with existing myQ gate/keypad/bridge

Current setup: -Liftmaster gate with remote and/or keypad access from driveway. Once this gate opens, it leads to a 3 car garage. None of these 3 have MyQ capability. -The gate is wirelessly connected to the MyQ Internet bridge, which allows me app/remote access. . All I wanted was for this thing to replace my current keypad (dated) and my Arlo camera sitting above the gate. But no, this new myQ product is not compatible with.... current MyQ products. Go figure. Surely this will be fixed with a firmware update?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Won’t link to RING; Can’t open door with app

I’m down to one garage door opener, so I thought this would be handy as a keypad opener with the option to open the door via the app. It’s also supposed to be compatible with RING, so I should only need to open the RING app to view all cameras. Nope and nope. I should be able to access the keypad/opener from my phone, but it’s just a feed of the camera. When I tried to connect to RING, it didn’t recognize the camera keypad. Since I’m seeing so many negative reviews about battery life, as well, I’ll probably return this product.

Good concept – easy set up

Product is a good concept, set up, reasonably easy. It is not user-friendly. I. E. Facial Recognition. I believe the user-friendly part could be addressed with better documentation support. Still having problems getting it to capture a photograph and identify those I want in my favorites. Also, I was under the impression this product would interface with Alexa. Again, better documentation may resolved this issue. Not sure that I would spend the money again for this particular one. Photo quality is very good. Detection is good.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Concept, Poor Execution

I purchased this device a few months ago. It worked great until the weather started to cool. I received an alert the device was at 30% and needed to be charged, so I did so (an 8 hour charge). The device reflected a 100% charge. The next morning, the device was dead again, unable to handle the cold. It's being uninstalled and removed. Conceptually, this is a great device. But without a sturdy battery and with the lack of a hard wire option, the device is unusable in the northern half of the country where it gets cold.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello MikeGKCMO, thank you for taking the time to review the myQ Video Keypad and sharing your experience with this product. The myQ Video Keypad is tested to operate at -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C. Cold temperatures directly affect lithium-ion batteries such as those used in the myQ Video Keypad. Your myQ Video Keypad battery can experience issues holding a charge and may even enter Low Power Mode during cold days. You may Recharge your battery in a room temperature environment to prevent battery damage. Ensure the battery is charged completely prior to returning it outside during cold weather days. The Video Keypad is designed to operate at temperatures as low as -20C/-4F. If you are experiencing temperatures lower than this threshold, online functions may be disabled. Should you need technical support in the future, please email social@chamberlain.com. We are happy to help.

Good programmable keypad with poor battery life

I’m only looking for a garage door keypad that keys me give different people their own passcodes and contractors limited access. For that, the device works great, although I wish there was more control about explicit hours of access and a way to set an expiration date time. The battery life is pretty horrible. They really need to make a hardwire version. Or for people like me who don’t care about the video feature, a keypad-only feature to reduce power consumption. I got this on sale so the value is quite reasonable

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works Perfect, Easy to Install.

Picked this up to pair with my Chamberlain 8500W garage door opener. It works fantastic! Super super easy to install and connect. I was able to set it to only pickup people and it does exactly that. No raccoons, dogs, or other critters in the driveway. The ability to add codes for specific users is great, we gave a code to our neighbor that we can activate when we're out of town in case they need to access our house in an emergency, or put delivered packages in our garage for us to avoid the porch pirates. Highly recommend.

Battery life awful

I purchased the myQ Smart Garage video keypad to pretty much use it as garage opener. Video camera is very nice touch. Keypad looks futuristic and slick. That's where it all ends. If I have to disassemble the camera every three weeks so I can charge the battery for one day, it does not do basic functionality. I am pretty much ready to replace it with simple garage opener. I would be happy to change the settings and use it at this point only as garage opener, but that option is not available. Very disappointed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don't get 1 if you live in cold weather

We have 2, one at our home and one at our ski house. The one at home works great. We love it. The one in the mountains goes offline anytime the temperature drops to single digits, which happens most nights this time of year. It says it is rated to -4 degrees F, I can tell you that isn't accurate at all. It is much closer to 5-8 degrees F. Any colder and it shuts down and you have to bring it in to warm up. For something that we use to remotely monitor and control access to our place when we are away, it is failing.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Horrible Battery Life

I am otherwise happy with the video keypad. I have it set to only people for recording, but most of my recordings are not people, which is draining the battery. I recharged it last on Nov 28 and the battery is completely dead today, Dec 5. Charging the battery weekly is not sustainable, especially when it requires 8-10 hrs and a screwdriver to recharge. I keep hearing they are working on it, but perhaps in the meantime, they could send a spare battery to current users so we weren’t so disappointed in this product?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Funny, but the way this review is solicited, is through a button that you click that effectively says "everything is good". If you're having problems, there is a second button for that, but it does not take you to this "reviews" process. (why have a review process...then???). Here goes: The battery life on the Video Garage Keypad is horrible. And, after that, the recording features of the camera (timing-wise) just don't capture anything useful. If I were allowed to return the product today, I would.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello Riviera, we are sorry to hear you are experiencing such issues with your myQ Video Keypad. I am happy to inform you there are a few things that can be done to help extend the battery life and possibly assist with any concerns you may have regarding the cameras recording. To help extend the battery life we suggest lowering the motion sensitivity within the myQ app. Please follow the following steps. Access your Video Keypad settings page Tap the Motion Detection tab Toggle the Motion Sensitivity menu to select your preferred settings. Wi-Fi signal strength also plays a significant factor in the battery life performance of your device. You can view your Wi-Fi network strength in the myQ app under the Video Keypad Device Management Settings section. I hope this information will provide you with a better experience, should you need further assistance please email our team at social@chamberlain.com.

Just not worth the money

I bought this unit probably a little over a month ago. I had high hopes with the the camera and the multiple user PIN interface. So far the camera has worked okay but the unit fails to accomplish its primary job of operating the garage door on the regular. Sometimes your PIN works but sometimes it doesn't. It's a gamble every time if it going to work or not. There's no guarantee this thing works unless someone contacts me to open the door from my phone app. The battery charging is not bad but mine lasts about 3-4 weeks. Camera and microphone are fine so I know I have a good WIFI signal. But these benefits don't outweigh the fact it consistently fails at operating the door. My kids use this to try and open the garage door everyday after school and it fails almost every time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Might regret the purchase according to comments

I was pleasantly surprised by this product when I seen this online so I purchased it. I am having reservations about it due to the overwhelming negative comments about battery life. I believe the product team drop the ball when it came to this portion of the product. I don't have this keypad yet but I am thinking it might go back before I even open it. Twice a month is unacceptable to charge it and 6 hours to charge while its down is also a big no-no. These blanket replies by the companies solution team on these boards seems so disconnected with the costumer. How is that a way to support your product with a computer generated scripted reply? I give this a fair rating due to me not even receiving the product yet. I usually read the comment but this time I didnt. My mistake !

Good device, good support however…

I like the quality of the device, the customer support awesome however the battery life awful, the only reason I ca attribute to was the WiFi connection. Then I added a repeater move it close to the point that I put the extender on a power cord a feet away from the video keypad. The signal still weak. So my conclusion is that the WiFi connection needs a firmware or hardware update asap. Like the device but the battery life kill the good. I am open to help if you want to test options in a real environment.

Great product for the price

I am absolutely thrilled with my MyQ Video Keypad! The video quality is top-notch, providing me with clear and crisp images of my home at all times. Not to mention, the pricing is very reasonable compared to other similar products on the market. I also love how effective the notifications are - I am always in the loop about what's happening in and around my home. It gives me such peace of mind knowing that I can rely on this keypad to keep me informed and secure. Overall, I cannot recommend MyQ Video Keypad enough. It has truly exceeded my expectations and I feel so much safer with it in my home. I predict future models will have built-in solar, and maybe a wired version. In the interim, I just purchased two more batteries to swap between the two keypads. Not a deal breaker.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works intermittently.

We have done everything we could to make this thing to work, we put in additional WiFi beacons in the garage with a super high signal and speed. The device is outside the garage and it simply does not work until we open the garage door. Totally defeats the purpose. We wanted to be able to see what is happening at the garage when we are in our home or away from home. The batteries run down so quickly which is annoying as well, trying to sell me spare batteries is not helpful a device that works would be.

Dont buy if you livecin, hot climate

I purchased two of these for my two doors. The setup was easy and straight forward and linked to my system easily. My issue with them is they keep going offline when the outside heat is up. I live in Las Vegas so, we are seeing triple digit temps and both keypads go offline when it is the hottest part of the day. I have wireless cameras further out then the keypads and they work fine so it isn't a problem with wifi strength. I will be going back to my regular keypads and just add to my security camera system instead. Also, keep in mind you will need to purchase another battery to rotate when the battery in use needs to be replaced. These batteries take 5+ hours to recharge. Too bad they do not have a hardwire option. I cannot recommend these if you live in a hot environment.

I've had this camera for about 10 months and I had several issues. The camera periodically stops working because they can't figure out the updates. Most recently, my camera feed has not worked for the last three weeks and counting. I've been in touch with support, but have been waiting two weeks and counting for an update. That means in the 10 months of owning this video keypad, I have paid over a month in subscription fees when the camera was not working. Such a joke of a company. MyQ shou

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

This is a waste. Mine died as soon as the weather got cold. First of all the battery life stinks. Even at the lowest motion setting (which defeats the purpose of owning one of these) and then you need to remove the unit off the wall and recharge the battery. So you either need to PURCHASE a second battery to have on the ready or be without the keypad and camera for 8-10 hours while the battery charges... But like I said it wont matter because as soon as the weather gets cold the unit will die.

Short battery life and poor Wi-Fi connectivity.

The battery lasts around a month without setting up recordings and with motion detection at the lowest sensibility. Recharging once a month is more than annoying. Very short range for Wi-Fi. As an example, I have an Arlo camera located about 4 feet above the opener, on the same corner of the house, showing 3 bars for Wi-Fi strength when the opener has just one, constantly dropping connectivity when the garage door is closed, with the router located about 25 feet from the opener, inside the house.

Hello, we're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your myQVideo Keypad. There are several ways to improve your Wi-Fi connection for your device, including moving your router closer to your device or purchasing a Wi-Fi extender. Bad battery life and network connectivity

The keypad works well in general. Easy to use and set up, and the video looks good. The biggest problem is with the battery life and the network connectivity. I have wireless mesh access points at several locations in the house, including in a room right above the garage door. The keypad still continually goes offline and I am lucky to get up to two bars of connectivity. I have verified that it is connecting to the closest access point and it is within the 50 feet distance recommended. The battery life is only two to three weeks, by far the lowest of any camera device (doorbell, security camera, etc.) that I own. I am buying a second battery pack, but changing it out every two to three weeks is a headache. Seems like not enough testing was done on the product before releasing it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The main issue is, when I leave home from the Garage, the garage door opener has a light that stays on for about a minute after opening the garage door, when I try to close the garage door using the keypad, the door will not close, I have to wait until the light on the garage door opener turned off, then and only then I can close it using the keypad.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Have some issues

I wanted to love this keypad and high hopes fornit, but the camera is set to the highest sensitivity and is still not able to pick up most of the movements. Once it does detect movement i am unable to play back the video it recorded. I see the video, but when i press play it start loading and never plays. I tried every video i have and none of them plays back. Not sure what the issue is but that definitely will keep me from subscribing for the storage once my 30 days free trial is over.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Garage Video Keypad lacks good battery.

The unit works as advertised however the batter lasts only four to five days. The unit loses its wi-fi signal regularly. The motion sensor is much too sensitive and even with a lower detection setting it still picks up even the slightest motion and I get too many alerts. I expected the batter to last at least a few weeks so I lowered the motion detection and shut off video recording. Still, the battery is not powerful enough to maintain all of the higher motion or video settings.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi Joe, thank you for your review and feedback on the myQ Video Keypad. I am sorry to hear of your experience and to see that this product did not meet your expectations. To maximize the battery life of your myQ Video Keypad, we recommend setting your Motion Sensitivity Meter to either the low, or lowest setting. This will ensure your keypad is only capturing events immediate to your garage door proximity. Wi-Fi signal strength also plays a significant factor in the battery life performance of your device. You can view your Wi-Fi network strength in the myQ app under the Video Keypad Device Management Settings section. Should these settings already be in place, you need further help, have any comments, concerns or questions, please email us at social@chamberlain.com and include this review, so we can get in contact with you to resolve the issue. Thank you!

Video Garage DoorBell Connectivity Issues

My Garage Doorbell is legit about 20ft away from my router. And it loses connection all the time. I have the new RS700 nighthawk router which covers 3.5k sqr ft meaning this shouldn’t be an issue and it is. Second - another subscription service instead of adding the capability to save your video to the device through a sd card?? What day of age is this? Seriously forcing us to save private video to the cloud instead of on device is big brother vibes. Go with a different brand

Great function, but lack of alternate power option

I love the function and ease of this camera/garage door opener, but the lack of alternate power options makes this a bad option for anyone away from their home/str longer than 2 weeks, as the battery life is horrible. All other devices in this category offer multiple powe options (solar/battery/AC), so I'm a little confused as to why this does not. Coming up with a retrofit power option for your current customers would greatly improve the confidence in this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello, thank you for your suggestion, while we currently do not offer an alternative power source, we are always looking for ways to improve our product. Your concern regarding battery life will be shared with our team. I would like to recommend attempting the following. Access your Video Keypad settings page, Tap the Motion Detection tab, Toggle the Motion Sensitivity menu to select your preferred settings.

Battery is useless

I purchased this for my home and installed it. Works great except,,,the battery. After charging the battery the keypad worked great. However, after two weeks the keypad needed to be charged, A second issue I have with the desigh is the screw used to keep the keypad attached to the holder, The screw is very small and easy to drop which can be a problem if the screw is dropped, All in all, good idea poor dsign, Don’t waste your money until the battery issues are resolved,

Not Worth the Money!

I’ve had this myQ Video Keypad for over 6 months now and I am totally unhappy with the functionality of this device! The battery life is completely garbage and it doesn’t stay connected to the app for long! Yes, it works fine as a secondary garage door opener and closer, but other than that, it’s useless. We might get 4 or 5 days of battery life from this device and then it needs to be recharged. I should have saved my money on buying this device! Don’t waste yours!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello Byron, we're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your myQ Video Keypad. There are several ways to improve your Wi-Fi connection for your device, including moving your router closer to your device or purchasing a Wi-Fi extender. The myQ Video Keypad must be within 50 feet of your Wi-Fi router and is compatible to operate with Wi-Fi networks on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequencies. If you're still having issues, please get in touch with us at support.chamberlaingroup.com In regard to the battery, expected battery life depends on several factors including household activity, Wi-Fi signal strength, ambient temperature, and selected motion sensitivity settings. An example based on activity can be found below: Quiet Household (fewer than 10 events per day): 3 months of battery life Typical Household (10-30 events per day): 2 months of battery life Busy Household (over 30 events per day): 1 month of battery life The myQ Video Keypad does come with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery! This is a custom battery pack, but additional batteries are available for purchase if you want to ensure your device never encounters down-time. Please visit this link and let us know if you have any additional questions: myQ Video Key Pad Battery | myQ https://www.myq.com/products/smart-garage-video-keypad-battery Thank you for your feedback, we will be sure to share with our product team for future enhancements. Keypad camera

Got this for Christmas. Camera image quality is very good. Mounting was easy. Would have liked a little more angle aiming out. Wifi quality not great. Had to add an extra access point in garrage. Literally I side the door it is mounted on and still shows fair signal strength? Also battery life is only fair. In cold weather had to charge battery every 3 weeks. Charge time required over 6 to 8 hours so had to buy second battery. Cost of battery almost as much as camera.

Hello James P, I'm sorry to hear that the myQ Video Keypad has not met your expectations. I would like to suggest the myQ Video Keypad swivel mount which can be purchased separately (part VKP1-MYQ-SMW). This additional mount will allow you to position the keypad in a way that will allow for a better aim. At this time the myQ Video Keypad has been tested to operate from -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C). Extremely cold weather can unfortunately impact the lithium-ion batteries used in many smart home devices, and as the temperature drops the battery will begin to have trouble holding a charge. At freezing temperatures, the battery may run out of power more quickly and require more frequent charges. As the temperature goes up your keypad will return to normal operation. I hope you find some of this information helpful, but should you need further assistance please email social@chamberlain.com.
