B&D String Trimmer is fine; the 40V battery is not

Purchased the BLACK+DECKER 40V MAX* String Trimmer / Edger, 13-Inch (LST140C) on June 9th and already the 40V 1.5Ah battery indicates it is not taking a full charge as the charger is flashing red. Assuming the charger was the fault, I changed chargers and within minutes, the same flashing red indicator on the charger appeared again.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Battery failure after less than a year

Purchased a trimmer in August 2022, used it 4 or 5 times. Tried to charge the battery today (July 2023) and got red blinking light indicating battery is dead or will not take charge. Really disappointed. Nice trimmer but less than a year old. Seems foolish to purchase new same battery. Jule

Battery failed

I bought this on a hedge trimmer a year ago and it's failed already. It shows a full charge, won't start the tool, and when you put it in the charger, the charger just blinks the red light on and off. I can't make it work. Extremely disappointed as these batteries are outrageously expensive.

Disappointed with battery life

I purchased my Hard Surface Sweeper Vac this past spring. I probably used it about 10 times and now I’m getting the “bad battery” indicator when I try to charge. Disappointed the battery didn’t last longer. A rechargeable battery should last longer than 10 charges. LBX1540 battery

Leaf blower

BLACK+DECKER 40V MAX Cordless Leaf Blower, Lawn Sweeper. I bought this product July of 22 and the battery no longer charges. I bought this unit because I have always trusted Black and Decker. The cost to replace the battery is almost the the same as buying a new unit.

Bad 40 V battery

Looks like I have the same problem that you all are having. Red blinking light after very few recharges. Lithium 1.5AH 40V. I guess I will call support and see what they will do with this useless battery. I agree - one would not expect this from B&D.

Bad Battery

I purchased a B&D Weed Trimmer and it flashes green when I first put it in charger but then flashes red and will not charge. I'd really like to trim the weeds and don't have the money for a new Weed Trimmer. The unit has never been used yet. What next?

Horrible battery life

I wish I would have checked reviews before I had had my son get me the LHT2240 hedge trimmer. Sounds like 40V 1.5 ah is poorly made. My first battery was flashing red before ever using it. The replacement is only 7 months old is is know flashing red

Disappointing and frustrating product Low Quality

Highly recommend avoiding this item. The battery never charges past 1 dot and then discharges very quickly. I typically will only get a few minutes of use from a charge, which makes if fairly useless, especially for the price.

Badd Lithium Battery after 2 charges

i bought a B&D blower and after 2 charges the battery no longer charges. It seems it is a recurring problem. I am not going to purchase a replacement battery unless I receive a credit. This is not a good product!

Battery doesn't recharge after two uses

I used the 22" hedge trimmer twice. After the second use, the battery would not recharge. The cost to replace the battery is nearly half of the cost of the hedge trimmer. I would not recommend this product.

Due to shoulder surgery I purchased a leaf blower so I didn’t have to rake. Used it for one season and now the battery will not charge. It’s not worth replacing the battery as it is so expensive.

Nice battery

I’ve had this battery for several years, use it with a hedge trimmer and.a leaf blower. It charges quickly and still works great. Probably charged at least fifty to one hundred times.

40v Lithium 1.5AH used one season and now will not charge but a few minutes then red flashing light. I have 2 of these batteries and neither will fully recharge.

Less than 10 charging cycles

This is the battery that came with my string trimmer. I can't get a full charge now without the charger flashing red. It didn't even last 10 charging cycles.

This battery stinks. I got two of them with my leaf blower, we use it about once a year and don't leave them plugged in but neither battery will charge now.

Not been used much, and the battery already seems to have gone bad (flashing red in the charger). Too short lived; too expensive to replace.

Not A Happy Camper
