Poor Life and Now Bad Battery Indicator

Poor battery life first season, now poor life AND bad battery indicator. I bought this string trimmer for my wife for Christmas last year (SHE wanted it, not me, I swear, LOL!) First season, she could only get half the fenceline done, had to stop, put it on the charger, come back later. So this season she's used it for the first time, same problem but now it's flashing fast red on the charger, indicating bad battery. These batteries are EXPENSIVE, almost the full cost of the whole string trimmer! I expected a lot better out of Black and Decker. Very disappointed.

Bad Battery!

Very disappointed in this battery, we purchased the trimmer for my 84 year old parents because it was light weight and easy for them to handle. Yes, mom still loves taking care of her yard… the trimmer worked great but after only a few charges, it now will not take a charge ?? I
This seems to be a manufacturing issue? Would not recommend this product and am very disappointed because I’ve always held B&D in high regard! Please do better!

Bad battery right out of the box

Purchased the 40v string trimmer this spring. Absolutely love it. The battery on the other hand...is rather worthless. Worked great for the first few charges, now though, when the battery reaches "full charge", the chargers light flashes red rapidly. Does this with other chargers too. So, yeah, bad battery right out the box. Plus, the battery's date is 2022. Pretty sure it is now 2024, at it was when I bought the trimmer it came with.

Black and Decker is better than this!

Purchased a blower this past spring '23 and the battery isn't charging fully anymore. It actually starts blinking green and then eventually goes to fast read indicating that the battery isn't good. Black and Decker has been a household name for generations. Really disappointed. Would like to replace it, but that costs as much as purchasing another blower and that really doesn't make much sense to do that just to get a new battery.

Questionable reliability

LBX1540 battery that came with a string trimmer (LST140). Used a handful of times, then the charger has the fast flashing red LED. After that, the amount of usage time on the battery is questionable. Sometimes the charger starts with the "slow blinking green" (I'm assuming indicating that it's charging), and then changes to the "fast blinking red" (indicating a failure). Most times though it goes right to the fast red LED>

The battery doesn't charge after 4 months

Such a waste of money buying this when the battery doesn't charge after maybe 4 months?
It's unfortunate. I have a great trimmer with a battery that's useless & whether it's to replace the battery or the charger, I'm unimpressed that not even 6 months in to buying this, it renders the product useless. That's a lot of money for a new battery for it to potentially end up still being an issue?

Useless battery!

We have a LST140. Used it maybe four times for light jobs and no edging. The battery is already bad. Don't want to invest in a new battery considering this. Don't want to buy a new trimmer, the one we have is practically new - we've changed the spool once, and never used it! Hiring someone for such a small job is silly; we trim twice a season at most! What to do?!

Bad on arrival

This battery came with the hard surface sweeper and is brand new. I’m receiving a bad battery indicator, as with so many others who have reviewed the product. B&D clearly have a pattern that shows this product is highly defective. Unfortunate, as I love my other cordless B&D products and this is the only tool that uses this 40v 1.5ah model.
