Was doing a good job but died (bearing failure)
I have had this sander for just over a month. Using it to sand the rails on my deck when it is not raining. Worked great and allowed me to get into areas that many other sanders would not reach. Almost finished the railing and it died. The bearing on the fan side failed. This is not a repairable failure. Called B&D and they are sending a replacement but I am now delayed in finishing the deck. Reading other reviews this seems like it may be a common failure.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Awful
I'm on my 2nd BD321 in 5 years. The first one died on me when the main bearing melted in the plastic housing. The second one also went bust on me but I cannabalized parts from the first to repair the second. This one nixed itself today in the same spectacular manner. I bought the CRAFTSMAN CMEW 213 - an almost dead ringer for the B&D.
I will also NOT be using the dust collector bag as it severely reduces the cooling of the motor. READERS - YOU ARE WARNED.

simple to operate great design

This sander is excellent. Very easy to change sanding belts. Switching between coarse, medium, fine belts I have not had to mess with the tracking adjustment. just swap belt and run. Best feature after lot of sanding notice dust bag full. Very little dust on project and table. this sander was going to be a backup sander for my misplaced older sander. after running this machine I'm not too interested in finding my now older backup sander
Yes, I recommend this product.

Can't fix it yourself
Got maybe a year of use out of it until the driver roller rubber split and wouldn't drive paper.
I ordered a new driver roller with the rubber on it - there seems no way to remove the driver roller short of a sledge hammer. Basically just have a motorized paperweight now. NOTHING on the internet demonstrating how to make what should be a simple repair.

Tricky alignment knob at first.
Like the extra feature of sanding above in tight places. If Dewalt is part of Black and Decker, there should be a similar Dewalt version. Tricky belt alignment knob at first. It was all over the place on adjusting, but finally got a little better after screwing all the out and all the way in.

Cheap belt sander
Owned this for approximately 2 years. Only used about five times. Today the bearing went bad, ball got loose and damaged the armature.
During tear down I noticed that the gear box was not sealed and contained a lot of sanding dust.
Just not quality parts nor design.
No, I do not recommend this product.

No mount to use the sander upside down as a bench
10 months ago
Disappointing or bait and switch? The included picture of features that come with it show a plastic mount that holds the sander upside down to act as a bench sander. Not only not included, but not mentioned even as an option.

Nice tool
I have had this tool about a year and have used it probably a dozen times.Enough to wear out a few belts. It works great, gets in close to the edge and has been a nice tool, not real powerful but not too heavy either..i like it.
