Auxiliary handle still slips on brand new ones
a year ago
I just bought an LST140 brand-new at Menard's in June of 2023. This trimmer cuts well and has decent run-time. However, the auxiliary handle slips out of position when you least expect it. You can shake it, twist it and try to force the auxiliary handle to move and it will not. But just operate the tool normally, and when you least expect it, the auxiliary handle will jump to the next position.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that tonight I found multiple product reviews complaining about this very problem, some dating back as far as 2019...B&D couldn't/didn't correct this issue in FOUR YEARS?
No, I do not recommend this product.

Very hapy with this product. went with the B & D cordless mower last year with the same 40v battery and have been extremely happy, so it was a no-brainer to go with the matching trimmer. had an early Craftsman incarnation of the cordless and a couldn't make it through the entire yard where this one makes it on 1/3 of the battery - nice! plus, unlike the gas powered one I had after (loud, hard to start, and one side of my body shook for hours after using it), the B & D is so light and easy to use.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Works for about a yeae

Words can barely describe how much I hate this thing. The auto feeder is cool and works well for about a year, then it starts to do this thing where the second it touches grass it feels ALL of your line. Not since of it, all of it. Just strung it, it chewed through about 10 ft of line, strung it again. Did the same thing, so I used it for the only thing it's probably good for. Stress relief. It actually was fun beating it against a wall. Went and bought an eGo, let's see how that does

I purchased this item 2 years ago and it was the best replacement to a gas trimmer that I could find. The 40 volt battery and its features sold me on this item. I can use this item with one hand. This is one fabulous trimmer/edger. A person does not have fool around with gas and oil with its smell all of the mess it creates. I have had this item long enough to really test it completely. I give it an excellent rating. The battery charges completely in a very short time
Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you B&D for a lifetime of great tools
15 days ago
I bought this combo YEARS ago with a B&D 40v chainsaw, a hedge trimmer and two 40v batteries. Still working after TEN YEARS. For the price I paid for these tools, they have been one of the best bargains ever. This year I bought a generic replacement battery which I do not anticipate will last as long as the B&Ds. But the tools are getting old and if it lasts a few years i will be satisfied. I have purchased many, many B&D products over the years including these products, power tools, hand held vacuums (excellent), etc, etc. Not a bad one in the lot. I have an .8 acre yard with about 300 feet of driveway and sideway edges. These tools are time and lifesavers. Lightweight (I am 76 years old), relatively powerful, easy to use, replace string spool, etc. I should note that my combo included a blower that would also convert into a yard vac.

Light, adjustable and easy-to-use
Decent trimmer with a battery powerful enough to get through my weekly yard work in one session. The adjustable shaft length is a good feature and works well. I like that you can adjust the angle of the handle, but quite often it slips out of the selected position and has to be readjusted. The auto-feed function worked well for a couple of months, but now has to fed manually which is very frustrating. Wish the replacement spools were cheaper too.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Powerful!

I bought this about a month ago and I've used it probably about 8 times. I live on a huge lot (farm) and the battery is super impressive. I did my research before buying and this one came out on top. Has enough power to cut through tough thistles/ small bushes etc. Its light weight and the adjustable handle is perfect on it. With myself being 5'3 and my partner being 6' its easy to switch it for both of us.

Great Trimmer
After going through several gas trimmers due to the ethanol in fuel I decided to try a battery powered trimmer. I purchased this several years ago. I love it. I own an acre and it takes two charges to do my whole yard but it does the job and has been for a while. It has plenty of power for regular weeds and grass. It really is a great product. If it broke tomorrow I would buy another in the blink of an eye.
